By Air

The majority of international flights into South Africa land in Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport), including South African Airways, Delta and many African, Asian and European carriers.

Direct Regional Flights to Sun City – suspended

Unfortunately, scheduled flights to Pilanesberg Airport from OR Tambo and Cape Town International Airport have been suspended due to budget restraints at South Africa Airways – the national carrier.

 

Road Transfers

Sun City is approximately 3 hours’ drive from Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport via either road transfer or self-drive / car hire.

Sun City is situated approximately 200km from Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport and it will take approximately two and a half hours to reach. It is the main arterial road link to the north. For first-time visitors we recommend a charter transfer as it the most convenient option. We will enable the pooling of charter transfers with a view to ensuring the journey is comfortable and cost effective.

Should you prefer to self-drive there are many car hire companies to choose from that operate from OR Tambo International Airport.

Please note: We do not recommend travelling to Sun City during night-time. The roads are not lit all the way from OR Tambo International AIrport to Sun City. You will travel through several villages, where livestock are not always fenced in and people cross the roads at unlit intersections.  We do not recommend travelling to Sun City from Or Tambo International Airport after 15:00. (The sun sets at approximately 18:00 during winter months)
